Valley Crossing Project

Building potential to fuel millions of homes

Jones Power energy services company Community Service

HATTIESBURG, MISS. October 2, 2022 – In 2017, Enbridge (Spectra Energy) launched the 165-mile (266-km) Valley Crossing Project with the goal to bring 2.6 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) of gas to Mexico: enough to fuel over five million homes every day with clean burning natural gas.

The challenge was to collectively deliver 10,000 loads of pipe to multiple project sites, including ocean vessel management, project logistics and on-site execution. A successful project would help meet Mexico’s growing demand for power generation by efficiently transporting gas from Texas, as utilities there shift away from plants powered by oil and imported liquefied natural gas.

Jones Power was selected as the subcontractor to execute the logistics from start to finish and spearhead the initiative to connect the largest OD gas pipeline, the 48-inch Sur de Texas-Tuxpan Pipeline, with supply from the Gulf of Mexico.

“This was a very challenging and complex project, but we knew Jones Power had the experience, the talented resources, and frankly the grit to tackle it. It has been very rewarding to complete this project successfully for the team at Spectra Energy,” said Jeff Dillon, Senior Vice President of Business Operations at Jones Power.

The Valley Crossing Project is now delivering the natural gas Mexico needs to power their growing demand.
