HATTIESBURG, MS. December 5, 2023 – Jones Power has been selected to execute the civil construction scope on a 100-megawatt utility-scale solar project covering more than 600 acres near Canton, Mississippi. Construction on the project started in October 2023 and is scheduled to be completed in February of 2024. Jones Power’s scope includes all erosion control, clearing, grubbing, construction entrances, culverts, earthwork, soil cement stabilization, stone access roads, stone laydown yards, final seeding, and post-civil site maintenance. The post-civil site maintenance crew will remain onsite throughout pile driving, racking, modules, electrical, and commissioning to provide support services to our client by maintaining roads, erosion control, dust control, mowing, and more. Jones Power’s role will be a pivotal piece of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) compliance strategy and process, as Jones Power has been recognized as an industry leader in the IRA process both in the apprenticeship program and documentation process requirements.

“We’re excited to take on this work in our home state of Mississippi,” said Jones Power CEO John Clark. “While we’re proud of the work we’ve done to become a proven and recognized leader in civil construction for utility-scale solar projects nationwide, we’re always excited about the great work we continue to do as an anchor company in our community and leader across the Magnolia state.”

Jones was founded in Sandy Hook, Mississippi in 1949 and is a leading energy infrastructure, transportation, logistics, and technology company with head offices in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Houston, Texas. Jones Capital is now constructing a new, $50 million corporate headquarters in Hattiesburg with a project completion date expected for August 2024. The new Jones Capital building – located near the University of Southern Mississippi campus – is anticipated to become the heart of an investment hub of future employment growth in Hattiesburg.

“Our purpose at Jones is to create jobs in our community, improve the quality of lives for our employees, and to become a trusted leader to our customers in the markets we serve all across the country as we continue to grow.” Said Jonathan Jones, CEO of Jones Capital.
